I Ate Healthy For a Week & Here’s What Happened

So, I decided when I got back from spring break that I needed to make a health change. I was sick of feeling terrible in my own body. I was sick of being ashamed when I got winded walking up a flight of stairs. I was sick of realizing clothes that used to fit me like a glove feel extremely tight on my me. So, I severed the ties with the comfort and emotionally eating. I said goodbye to the excuses of being too tired to workout. Here’s what happened when I ate healthy for the first week! I wanted to document this not only for my own record but to visualize the hard parts of getting healthy. I want this blog to be candid. I don’t want to sugarcoat anything because that doesn’t help anyone. So, here goes my report for my first healthy week!

Monday: Right away in the morning I felt good because I think it was a lot of excitement and stuff. But, as the day went on, I became really nauseous. My stomach was so wonky and everything I ate made me feel even worse. But, I kept on! I figured my body was just rejecting the healthy foods because it had no clue what it was. I drank more and more water which wasn’t too hard except for the COUNTLESS times I had to pee throughout the day. Towards the end of the day was the hardest. I began to get such terrible headaches. You know, the kind that makes it hard to open your opens and is uncomfortable even lying down. I honestly just couldn’t wait to go to sleep in hopes it would go away!

Tuesday: I woke up that day with the hopes that my migraine would be gone and was disappointed to find out it hadn’t. I struggled with that headache almost all day. However, I wasn’t as nauseous anymore which was a definite plus. I could tell that I had more energy which was very different for me. It wasn’t as hard this day to keep up with the healthy eating so that was reassuring. So, basically this day was okay! I even made healthy ice cream as a treat and was pleasantly surprised to find out it was actually pretty delicious!

Wednesday: My headache wasn’t as prominent this day which I was extremely grateful for! But this day was one of the hardest I think. I had so many dang temptations throughout the day. Someone walked in with free Sandy’s Donuts, it was free ice cream cone day at DQ, and all I wanted to do was eat anything that wasn’t good for me. Seriously, anything. BUT I didn’t. I ate some veggies and drank some flavored green tea. To be honest, I was really shocked with my self control this day!

Thursday: So, I woke up feeling pretty tired and achy today. I’m sure it had to do with the extra workouts I’ve been doing that I’m totally not used to! But, besides that this day is when some of the positive effects started to show. I really noticed that I felt less bloated and more tight. That sounds so weird but like my stomach didn’t feel big and jiggly. It was really amazing for my self confidence truly. I actually struggled eating all of my calories this day and I don’t know if that’s because my stomach is getting a little smaller or what BUT that was definitely new for this girl who chows down and never gets full.

Friday: I actually wasn’t too hungry most the day! But the real test came when I went out to eat and had a side salad and veggies while my boyfriend ate a full pizza. Yes. A full pizza. I was honestly still very hungry afterwards and really felt bummed! But I did feel really good. Like if I had ate the pizza I would have felt bloated and tired and icky! So that was a big plus!

Saturday: So, I didn’t eat till the afternoon cause I was super busy and not hungry! But at the evening I was babysitting and had some Chinese food! Yeah, not the best BUT I actually didn’t eat half as much as I normally do because I got FULL! Yes, full!! So that was really encouraging that my stomach is really shrinking and I won’t feel hungry all the time!

I wanted to put in a before and after shots in here because I think it’s absolutely amazing what eating right can do for your body in a short amount of time. I can definitely notice that my body is a little bit tighter and I’m not as bloated. But honestly that’s not even the most important part. I have been absolutely shocked by my energy levels lately while eating healthy. I truly have been more energetic and productive and have been less likely to want to take a nap during the day which is HUGE cause your girl loves a good nap.   1. Hi Emily, Good for you! It’s amazing how good you feel after just a few days. I started eating healthy a few months ago, about 6, and so far I have dropped 42lbs. But the way I feel and the energy level is what is so great. Keep up the good work, you can do this!
