All About Blogging

I’ve noticed a lot of people asking me about blogging like why I started blogging, what blogging all entails, and the pros and cons of it! I thought it would be fun to do post asking your questions about blogging all in one space! I’m sure a few of you have the same questions too so might as well make it open for everyone to see!

I’ve always had an interest in writing and reading and anything creative and once I heard about blogging I was intrigued! Some of my college classes actually required us to have blogs that we posted on each week and I enjoyed it but I thought how much more fun it would be if I was writing about things I really enjoyed. I toyed with the idea of doing it for many years but was always too scared to do it because of what people would think. I figured people wouldn’t understand why I was doing it or think it was just silly. Then I realized it really doesn’t matter what people think and it’s just something I want to do. I also wanted to do it because any career path I go on would happily welcome an employee having a blog because it shows commitment, creativity, and precision.

Now, you might read my posts and think, girl you’re wasting your time or why are you acting like this is a big deal it obviously doesn’t require much effort. You’re very wrong! It takes a lot of time coming up with blog post ideas that people will enjoy. I need to write about things I like but if nobody is going to read them then whats the point? Then it takes time to outline it, write it, and edit it! After that, I try to create a featured image that is appealing as well as images within the post if needed. I don’t just snap a photo either, I make sure to edit it to match my theme and capture the best image possible. I treat this blog like a job because ultimately it is. It’s an investment in my resume, career, and future finances!

I don’t make money off of blogging whatsoever right now. I’ve done product reviews of items that companies have sent me but there is no exchange of money at all. I also don’t promote anything that I don’t think correlates with my brand at all. If I think the product insinuates that my readers should change themselves in any way I don’t accept the collaboration. But I do hope one day that I can create income from blogging because that would be living the dream!

I don’t really have any cons of blogging other than it does kinda suck when you spend so much time creating great content and nobody reads it but honestly I’ve received so much support from people that that hasn’t been an issue. There are so many pros to blogging for me though that I have nothing to complain about. I love sharing my content with my readers, creating something new every week, and helping anyone that I can in any way that I can.

One thing I struggle with blogging sometimes is coming with blog topics that I would enjoy writing and that my readers would like too. I’ve noticed that the blog posts that I’ve enjoyed the most or that have gotten the most engagement are the ones that come from my heart that I’m most nervous to write about. It just really reminds me how authenticity brings the most success.

I hope you enjoy this blog post and found out more about having a blog and what happens behind the scenes of one. If you have any other questions that weren’t answered in here please shoot them my way!
