Ever since I was really little I’ve always been a book worm. I mean one time my parents searched the house for hours because they couldn’t find me. They ended up finding me nestled in my closet with a book in my hand, asleep, because the night before I was obviously reading a good book and didn’t want my mom to know I was awake. All through middle and high school my mom would come up to my room in the wee hours of the night to tell me to shut my lamp off, put my book down, and go to sleep.
After I went to college I just haven’t had as much time to read as fast as I used to but I am reading every little bit I can! So, here are a few of the books I’m really loving right now and a little description of each! Enjoy! *Note these are in no specific order of love, I love all of my books equally.
Book 1: Adventures for your Soul by Shannon Kaiser
I love this book because it has really helped me identify the fact that I let so much of my fear of the unknown stop me from doing things I really love or want to try. It’s helped me get out of my comfort zone and be confident that everything will work out how it’s supposed to. It’s also helped me pinpoint what habits I have that hold me back from chasing my highest desires and dreams and kick them so I can achieve my success. If you want a good self-help book I really recommend this one. I also love the fact that it gives you little homework sessions at the end of each chapter that helps you reflect on your life and make a real change.
Book 2: You are a Badass by Jen Sincero
This book is GOLD. It really gives you some tough love to examine who you are, why you are that way, and how to get to be who you really want to be. Literally under the title it says, “How to stop doubting your greatness and start living an awesome life”. I’ve noticed that after I started reading books like this I started enjoying life. Before I was always just so scared of what people thought and didn’t really think my talents were good enough to share with the world so I suppressed them for a really long time! Now, I’ve created a blog, worked with multiple companies to advertise for them on Instagram, junior manage a boutique, started a job at another boutique, and am loving every minute of it. So, take ahold of your life and put it in the direction you want it to go but make sure you’re WORKING for it.
Book 3: Anything Nora Roberts
I bet you’re really glad we took a break from the self-help books aren’t you? Okay, once I read my first Nora Roberts book I was HOOKED. I started buying every single book of hers I could find and then just devouring them in days! They are so damn thrilling, romantic, and hard to put down. Please, just read one single book of hers and tell me you hate it, I dare you!
Book 4: The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts by Gary Chapman
First of all, shoutout to my BFF Paige for so kindly buying me this! I love this book and her lots! So, naturally I think a lot of people pick up this book when they’re married and are already struggling with keeping the love there. But, I suggest ANYONE read this at any given time. It really doesn’t even have to only deal with being in a romantic relationship, I use this in my friendships as well! I’m single and have been for quite some time now but there really is no right time to read about how you receive love and give you tips on how to pinpoint how your (present or future) significant other receives it. Most of the time they are never the same either! It’s great because it gives you so many great ideas on how to communicate with your partner what things make your love tank full and how to best love one another. It’s really a great read and I suggest anyone try it!
Book 5: The Soul Searcher’s Handbook: The Modern Girl’s Guide to the New Age World: Emma Mildon
I read this book so dang fast and whenever I had a free minute I usually gravitated towards this one! I’ve been curious about things like crystals, meditating, astrology, chakras, auras, and everything else! What’s really awesome is that the author has tried everything she talks about and givers her true honest opinion which I love! But there is also so much great information that you could find on the internet but it’s much easier to have it all in one place and ready for you! I’ve grown so much mentally from this book and it’s really broadened my perspective on so many different topics that I just feel a bit more well-rounded. It’s honestly just so fun to read about this stuff and then work it into your everyday life and see what things happen! I think anyone can read this but I suggest having an open mind before you start! Tab things you wanna try and put to the side the things you think are too “gypsy” for you!
Comment with your favorites books and let me know if you’ve ever read any of my top 5! I am such a book nerd that I really hope people comment!
